Sant’Egidio Community

Every Tuesday at 6:40 p.m., the Community of Sant’Egidio (www.santegidio.org) meets to pray at the Crypt of the Sagrada Família. It is a prayer open to everyone, a moment to slow down from the franticness of the day, to listen and learn from the feelings of Jesus. Prayer leads to the service of brothers and sisters, especially the poor, the homeless and the elderly.

Afterwards, the volunteers spread out through the streets to find those in need and bring them sandwiches and drinks that are prepared in advance at the parish premises. We want this meeting to be above all a moment of friendship that has the value of a faithful presence and a visit that breaks, with the affection they receive, the isolation in which they live.

Another service in the neighbourhood is visiting the elderly who live alone at home or in nursing homes, helping them live a dignified old age.
