Preparation for baptism

Baptism is the first of the sacraments of Christian initiation, it incorporates the child into Christ and into the life of the Church and, through water and the Spirit, makes them born again into the life of grace as offspring of God.

When parents request the sacrament of baptism for their young children, they are the ones who take upon themselves the responsibility of their children’s Christian education, along with the godparents.

In order for them to be well-prepared and experience the celebration with a more active and full participation, parents and godparents take part in a catechesis on the sacrament of baptism, of a length of approximately an hour and a half, which usually takes place on the Friday prior to the day arranged for the baptism. At the moment of specifying the date of the celebration, at the pastoral office, this essential meeting is also called.
