Catechesis for children who want to receive the sacrament of the Eucharist

Participation in the Eucharist, “the fount and apex of the whole Christian life”, is the second of the sacraments of Christian initiation. A baptised child, from the age of eight, begins catechesis to participate in the Eucharistic table. This catechesis lasts two whole school years, which culminates when the Body and Blood of Christ is received for the first time, during the Easter time of the second catechetical course.

Registration for children’s catechesis is formalised at the parish office during the month of September, and it is necessary to complete the data form that will be delivered, provide a photograph of the child and their recent baptism certificate.

If the child had not been baptised previously, they will join the other children of their age in the usual catechetical process, receiving in addition specific training to prepare for baptism, while participating in certain rites and celebrations that they prepare for them.

The parish of the Sagrada Família has several catechesis schedules for children:

  • Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
