Our Mother of Montserrat, patroness of Catalonia, has always had an important presence in the Sagrada Família. The crypt of the Temple has, to the right of the other main one, an altar dedicated to her, where she is venerated by visitors and, especially, by the faithful of the parish.
As a result, in 1923, the Confraternity of Our Mother of Montserrat of the Holy Family was established, as a member of the Confraternity of Our Mother of Montserrat, founded in 1223 by the abbot of the monastery of Ripoll, and the prior of Montserrat, with the approval of the archbishop of Tarragona, who, together with Queen Elionor of Aragon, signed the foundation document and were the first registered in the brotherhood, with the aim of promoting and share the devotion to the Mother of God.
Last June 30, the restoration ceremony of the Confraternity of Our Mother of Montserrat of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona was held.
The brothers offer to ask, in prayer, for the intercession of the Virgin under the Montserratine invocation; to share this Marian piety with other faithful, especially by sharing the celebration of the votive Eucharist of Our Mother of Montserrat, on the 27th of each month, and to make a pilgrimage to the holy mountain once a year.
Those interested in becoming members can apply to the pastoral office.
